Lost Productivity

There are alot of people who use doctor's excuses to get out of work. Some of these reasons are legitimate, for sure. But some people like to use doctor's excuses for playing hooky.

Playing hooky from work while using a real doctor's excuse isn't an issue, unless the doctor's note isn't valid or is even forged. Using a fake doctor's excuse, however has some serious ramifications.

Some states consider using a fake doctor's note a felony count of fraud. Others consider it a misdemeanor. Whatever your locale and legal situation, it is almost always immoral to use fake doctor's excuses.

Aside from the obvious lie that is made to the employer from the employee, a fake doctor's note makes the employer lose money and productivity, effectively stealing from the company.

Most wouldn't think twice about walking out with a company pen or paper, but consider that if your hourly wage is just $6.50 an hour, and you play hooky for a day, its making your company lose $50. Would you steal $50 from your boss' desk?
